Anorak Ventures is a pre-seed/seed stage VC firm investing in companies built around emerging technologies. The firm is led by Greg Castle, a former founder and startup exec who has led investments in 108 startups counting 6 unicorns including Oculus, Flexport, Mux, Anduril, Flock Safety and Rec Room. Anorak closed its debut fund of $13.5M in 2017 and is currently investing out of its second $25M fund. First close for Fund 3 is scheduled for Q4 2024. The firm is seeking a key hire to help scale up operations, sourcing, and portfolio support.

 

Anorak’s strategy is to remain nimble and collaborative, working with the best founders and co-investors to succeed. Our major investment categories are at the intersection of the digital world and the 3D/physical worlds, including hardware-enabled services, robotics and advanced manufacturing, VR/AR, and gaming.

This position will be compensated with both salary and carried interest. This is an investment role and title (Associate, VP, Partner) will depend on experience. The hire will be made regardless of race, religion, sex, age, orientation, marital status, and disability.

 

What we’re looking for:

• An excitement to build the strongest brand in seed stage investing

• A passion for the startup ecosystem, new markets, and new ways of thinking

• Experience and a deep understanding of the venture markets, either as an operator, investor or consultant

• Interest in areas including XR, CV, Robotics, Gaming, and AI

• Process-oriented to help build functions like sourcing, LP outreach, and fund administration

• Highly organized and detail-oriented: more “airline pilot” than “improv artist”

• The ability to synthesize vast amounts of data and resolve what really matters

• Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco

 

Once on board you will:

• Be a major source of dealflow and conduct comprehensive due diligence

• Perform various outbound marketing and deal sourcing activities including email outreach, attending conferences, and interfacing with prospective entrepreneurs or co-investors

• Work closely with portfolio companies to provide value and help them achieve their goals

• Learn about all aspects of fund operations

• Communicate with and help manage LP relationships

• Build a scalable infrastructure that will help Anorak continue to grow

• Write publicly about subjects that excite you

 

Qualifications

• 2-6 years experience in either tech, venture, finance, or consulting

• Operational experience in tech-related hyper-growths or start-ups preferred

• Angel, scout, or start-up investment experience preferred

• Highly organized with a track record of creating systems and structure

• Collaborative attitude with a team-first approach

• Demonstrated judgment; record of making winning decisions

• Ability to synthesize sophisticated information, form a sharp point of view, and communicate it in a relevant way to different audiences
